The visit was organised by LPU’s Division of International Affairs in collaboration with the India Business Group

Lovely Professional University (LPU) recently hosted a 14-member delegation comprising faculty members and students from the Isle of Wight College, United Kingdom, as part of a two-week academic and cultural exchange programme. The visit was organised by LPU’s Division of International Affairs in collaboration with the India Business Group.

According to the university, the programme was designed to facilitate cross-cultural learning and academic engagement across disciplines. The exchange also coincided with the visit of the Acting Deputy High Commissioner of the United Kingdom in Chandigarh, highlighting the broader diplomatic context of the collaboration.

During their stay, the UK delegation participated in specialised academic modules across multiple schools at LPU. At the Mittal School of Business, participants attended a session on “Jugaad Marketing,” focusing on resource-efficient innovation practices in the Indian context. The delegation also engaged with students at the School of Hotel Management through hands-on culinary sessions and took part in creative workshops at the School of Fashion Design, including fabric printing, pattern creation and clay art.

Wellness and extracurricular activities such as yoga, meditation and friendly sports matches were also part of the itinerary.

Commenting on the exchange, LPU founder chancellor Ashok Kumar Mittal said universities play a key role in facilitating the exchange of knowledge and perspectives across nations, adding that academic mobility should prepare students to engage with global challenges. Ros Parker, principal of Isle of Wight College, described the programme as a blend of learning and cultural exposure, noting the role of dialogue and collaboration in student development.

LPU vice president Aman Mittal said international academic partnerships help students gain insights beyond classroom learning by exposing them to diverse approaches to innovation, sustainability and global citizenship.
