Bengaluru-based deep-tech startup Cablesmith, which develops advanced optical cable management systems for telecom and broadband operators, has raised ₹50 lakh in seed funding from the IITB COMET Foundation, a Technology Innovation Hub under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.

Cablesmith’s flagship innovation — a Smart Optical Cable Management Platform — integrates artificial intelligence, photonics, and precision mechanical systems to automate network patching, testing, and monitoring. The system is designed to improve network uptime and operational efficiency for large-scale telecom and broadband infrastructures.

“Our platform uses a combination of AI and photonics”

“Our platform uses a combination of AI and photonics to automate fiber management and enable real-time diagnostics,” said Muhammed Rameesh, CEO and Co-founder of Cablesmith. “This funding will help us advance our core technology and accelerate our go-to-market initiatives.”

The company holds a patent from the Government of India in Optical Cross-Connection, a key technology that enables multi-operator fiber sharing — significantly reducing both capital and operational expenditure (CapEx and OpEx) for network providers.

“Optical Cross-Connection allows multiple telecom operators to share fiber infrastructure efficiently, which is a game-changer for India’s digital connectivity expansion,” added Ragesh Puthusseri, Co-founder of Cablesmith.
