President Droupadi Murmu Inaugurates Jagadguru Kripalu University in Odisha, Marking a New Chapter in Industry-Integrated Higher Education

The inauguration marks the formal commencement of the university’s academic journey, with a vision to combine academic excellence, research, innovation, and Indian values to prepare future-ready professionals.

Jagadguru Kripalu University (JKU), a new industry-integrated and value-based higher education institution, was inaugurated on Tuesday by President of India Droupadi Murmu at its 100-acre campus in Banara, Cuttack, Odisha. The inauguration marks the formal commencement of the university’s academic journey, with a vision to combine academic excellence, research, innovation, and Indian values to prepare future-ready professionals.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, and Swami Mukundananda, Founder and Chairman of Jagadguru Kripalu University, along with senior government officials, academicians, industry leaders, and members of the JKYog Trust.

Addressing the gathering, President Murmu highlighted the transformative role of education, stating, “Education is not merely a means of acquiring knowledge; it is the foundation for character building, social transformation, and the creation of a prosperous future for the nation.” She also expressed confidence that the university would successfully integrate India’s ancient cultural heritage with modern education to serve society and the nation.

Established under the guidance of Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj and founded by Swami Mukundananda, an alumnus of IIT Delhi and IIM Calcutta, JKU is recognized by the University Grants Commission under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act. The university’s motto, “Elevate Yourself Through Knowledge,” reflects its commitment to holistic education and leadership development.

Admissions for the 2026 academic session are currently underway through three constituent schools: JK Institute of Technology, JK Institute of Management Studies, and JK Institute of Healthcare and Life Science. Academic programmes cover emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, AI & Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, FinTech, Healthcare, Applied Microbiology, Yogic Sciences, Naturopathy, Business Management, Commerce, and Digital Product Design.

JKU’s education model emphasizes industry collaboration through apprenticeships, live projects, experiential learning, and career-readiness pathways aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The university will also promote holistic development through dedicated Centres of Excellence focusing on leadership, communication, ethics, human values, holistic health, Vedic studies, and mind management.

Located about 10 km from Cuttack and 20 km from Bhubaneswar, the eco-conscious campus features modern academic infrastructure, laboratories, residential facilities, sports amenities, healthcare services, and green spaces. With its blend of Eastern spiritual wisdom and contemporary scientific education, Jagadguru Kripalu University aims to contribute to India’s evolving higher education ecosystem while supporting the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
