Fab Lab Kerala, an initiative of Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), has announced the second edition of MakerSprint, a six-day digital fabrication programme designed to help aspiring innovators transform their ideas into functional product prototypes through hands-on learning.
The workshop will begin on July 13 at Fab Lab Kerala, located in Technopark Phase-I, Thiruvananthapuram. Built around the innovative “5 Tools in 6 Days” learning model, the programme aims to equip participants with practical skills in digital fabrication while enabling them to develop real-world prototypes.
MakerSprint is designed for students, innovators, professionals, and members of the public who wish to explore product development using advanced fabrication technologies. Participants will receive hands-on training in both open-source and proprietary software, helping them gain confidence in converting concepts into working models without technical barriers.
The workshop curriculum covers five core digital fabrication technologies—laser cutting, CNC machining, PCB milling, 3D printing, and vinyl cutting. Participants will build projects using each of these technologies before collaborating to create a fully functional prototype. One such example is a home theatre sound system, which participants can take home after successfully completing the programme.
According to KSUM, the programme will be conducted regularly to provide continuous opportunities for aspiring makers to acquire industry-relevant skills. The first edition, held in May this year, received an enthusiastic response, with participants praising its practical approach and the opportunity to gain experience across multiple fabrication disciplines.
Each batch will accommodate 10 participants, with admissions offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
