KPIT Technologies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Bombay to establish a research collaboration focused on next-generation mobility solutions, with Artificial Intelligence (AI) at its core.
The agreement, formalised at IIT Bombay, aims to build an industry-aligned research ecosystem that connects academic research with real-world engineering and product development in the automotive and mobility sector.
Under the partnership, master’s and doctoral research programmes will be aligned with current and emerging mobility challenges. The collaboration seeks to accelerate the transition of laboratory proof-of-concepts into deployable, industry-ready solutions while contributing to technology and policy discussions around future mobility systems.
The initiative will focus on advancing early-stage innovations into higher technology-readiness-level solutions through structured engagement between IIT Bombay faculty, postgraduate researchers, and KPIT’s engineering and research teams.
Research scholars will work on industry-defined problem statements and gain exposure to product engineering, system validation, regulatory frameworks, and deployment environments. The model is designed to ensure research outcomes extend beyond academic publications and move toward scalable, real-world applications.
The collaboration will address areas including safer mobility systems, intelligent vehicle platforms, sustainable powertrains, and future transportation infrastructure. By integrating academic research with industrial validation processes, the partnership aims to strengthen research-led problem solving while contributing to India’s deep-technology ecosystem.
The programme is also expected to support the development of industry-ready research talent by offering students and faculty structured exposure to engineering environments and technology development cycles.
