FORTE 2026 Highlights Transformative Role of Robotic Technology in Orthopaedic Surgery

The latest advancements in robotic orthopaedic surgery and joint replacement technology took centre stage at FORTE 2026, an international conference organised by VPS Lakeshore Hospital at Grand Hyatt, Bolgatty. Bringing together leading orthopaedic surgeons, researchers and healthcare experts from India and abroad, the conference served as a platform for scientific exchange, innovation and collaboration in the rapidly evolving field of robotic-assisted orthopaedic care.

The conference featured scientific sessions, panel discussions, case-based presentations, interactive forums and live robotic surgery demonstrations, offering participants valuable insights into the latest developments in joint arthroplasty and robotic surgical technologies. Renowned experts from Australia, England and other countries shared their expertise on the growing role of robotics in enhancing precision, efficiency and patient outcomes in orthopaedic surgery.

The event was inaugurated by SK Abdulla, Managing Director of VPS Lakeshore Hospital, who said the objective of FORTE 2026 was not merely to showcase cutting-edge technology but to critically evaluate its clinical effectiveness through scientific evidence, meaningful discussions and knowledge sharing.

Organising Chairman Dr George Jacob stressed the importance of creating greater awareness about rapidly advancing healthcare technologies. He noted that sharing knowledge on robotic-assisted surgery with fellow surgeons is essential to improving knee replacement outcomes and ensuring better patient care.

Abhishek Poduri, Group CEO of VPS Lakeshore Hospital, highlighted that robotic technology complements the expertise of surgeons by improving surgical precision and consistency. He said robot-assisted knee replacement procedures enable greater accuracy, contributing to enhanced patient recovery, improved mobility and a better quality of life. He also emphasised the need for healthcare institutions to embrace modern technologies that elevate standards of clinical care.

Renowned Australian orthopaedic surgeon Dr Brett Fritsch observed that FORTE 2026 reflected India’s remarkable progress in robotic orthopaedic surgery. He added that conferences of this nature play a vital role in evaluating emerging technologies and understanding their expanding role in clinical practice.

The live robotic surgery demonstrations emerged as one of the conference’s major highlights, drawing keen interest from delegates. Orthopaedic surgeons, arthroplasty specialists and researchers from across the country participated in the event, with scientific sessions led by internationally recognised faculty including Dr Payam Tarassoli, Dr Ajit Kumar, Dr Thadi Mohan, Dr Srinivas Thati, Dr Manan Shah and Dr Mukesh Laddha.

The conference was spearheaded by Dr George Jacob, alongside Dr Jacob Varghese, Head of Orthopaedics at VPS Lakeshore Hospital, Dr Appu Benny Thomas, Dr Vinay Jaison Chacko, Dr Jose Thomas Pappanacherry and Dr Ebin Rahman, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to advancing innovation, education and excellence in orthopaedic healthcare.
