BRIC-RGCB Opens Applications for PhD Biotechnology Programme 2026

The programme invites aspiring researchers to pursue advanced studies across diverse domains within biotechnology and allied sciences.

The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (BRIC-RGCB) has announced the commencement of applications for its PhD programme in Biotechnology for the August 2026 academic session. The programme invites aspiring researchers to pursue advanced studies across diverse domains within biotechnology and allied sciences.

Eligible candidates must hold a postgraduate degree with a minimum of 60 percent marks. Additionally, applicants with a four-year bachelor’s degree must have secured at least 75 percent marks or an equivalent score on the UGC 10-point grading scale. The eligibility extends to candidates from Life Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medical Sciences, and related disciplines.

A key requirement for admission is possession of a valid Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Applicants must have qualified through national-level fellowships such as UGC, CSIR, ICMR, or DBT, with the fellowship tenure extending up to five years as offered by the Government of India. This ensures that selected candidates have demonstrated research aptitude and are financially supported during their doctoral studies.

The age limit for applicants is set at 28 years as of the last date of application submission. However, relaxations are applicable as per government norms. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Disabilities (PwD), and female applicants are eligible for an age relaxation of up to five years. Other Backward Classes (OBC, Non-Creamy Layer) candidates are eligible for a relaxation of up to three years. Reservation policies will be implemented in accordance with Government of India regulations.

The deadline for submitting online applications is May 10, 2026. Interested candidates are advised to complete the application process well before the closing date to avoid last-minute technical issues.
