Over 380 Special Educators Participate in Punjab Physiotherapy Workshop to Support Divyang Children

More than 382 special educators from across Punjab took part in an intensive physiotherapy workshop aimed at enhancing their skills to better support children with special needs. Hosted by Lovely Professional University’s National Service Scheme and organized in partnership with Punjab’s Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, the workshop reinforced the state’s commitment to inclusive education.

The programme, guided by Director General School Education Aravind K. M., was inaugurated by Dr. Loviraj Gupta, Pro Vice-Chancellor of LPU, along with key education officers including Mamta Bajaj and Dr. Balwinder Singh Battu. It provided hands-on training in physiotherapy techniques tailored for children with physical disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy and Muscular Dystrophy, along with strategies for supporting children with Autism and Learning Disabilities.

Participants received instruction on gross and fine motor skill development, Activities of Daily Living (ADL), use of adaptive devices, and creating barrier-free learning environments. The curriculum also covered orthotics, prosthetics, and emerging telerehabilitation methods, equipping educators to better promote mobility, development, and well-being among Divyang students.
