Anurag University conferred degrees on 2,789 graduates during its 3rd Annual Convocation, celebrating academic excellence while highlighting the growing importance of innovation, artificial intelligence (AI), and industry readiness in higher education.
The graduating class included 2,193 Bachelor of Technology students and 44 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) scholars, alongside graduates from programmes such as Master of Business Administration (155), Master of Computer Applications (90), Bachelor of Pharmacy (88), and Bachelor of Business Administration (74). Degrees were also awarded across several postgraduate and doctoral programmes in pharmacy, technology, agriculture, and management.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the conferment of an Honorary Doctorate on Padma Shri Chintakindi Mallesham, whose grassroots innovation revolutionised traditional weaving practices and improved the lives of thousands of handloom workers. The university recognised his contribution as an example of innovation driven by empathy, perseverance, and social impact.
Addressing the graduating class, Dr. Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Chairman of Anurag University and MLA for Janagama Constituency, emphasised the transformative role of artificial intelligence in shaping future careers. He remarked that AI itself would not replace jobs, but professionals skilled in AI tools would lead tomorrow’s workforce. Highlighting the university’s pioneering role in launching Telangana’s first B.Tech programme in Artificial Intelligence eight years ago, he reaffirmed its commitment to integrating AI into academics, research, and campus life.
Chief Guest Goutham Reddy, Chairman of CII and Executive Director of Re Sustainability Ltd., encouraged graduates to embrace AI as a powerful tool while preserving the core engineering mindset of problem-solving, curiosity, and continuous learning. He urged students to build careers grounded in first-principles thinking and adaptability.
In his address, Chancellor Dr. U.B. Desai congratulated the graduates and their families, stressing that technical excellence must be accompanied by integrity, responsibility, and a commitment to solving real-world challenges.
The convocation was attended by senior leaders from leading organisations, including Mahindra & Mahindra, Dhruva Space, Qualcomm, Deloitte, PwC, PepsiCo, LTIMindtree, Siemens, and Karvy Fintech, reflecting the university’s strong industry partnerships and focus on preparing graduates for an evolving global workforce.
