Samsung R&D Institute India-Bangalore (SRI-B) has crossed a significant milestone in its employee-led notebook donation initiative, reaching over 2 lakh students across Karnataka since its launch in 2015. The programme, aimed at improving access to essential learning materials in government schools, has distributed nearly 15 lakh notebooks, reinforcing the institute’s long-term commitment to education and community development.
As part of the 2026 edition of the initiative, more than 100 SRI-B employees volunteered to distribute 42,819 notebooks to 7,620 students across 195 government schools in Kolar district. Beyond distributing notebooks, volunteers also interacted with students, encouraging them to pursue their education with confidence and enthusiasm.
The initiative began after SRI-B employees observed that while attendance in government schools remained encouraging, many students lacked basic educational resources such as notebooks and stationery. What started as a small employee-driven effort has steadily evolved into one of the institute’s longest-running community outreach programmes, benefiting thousands of children every year.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohan Rao Goli, Corporate Vice President and Managing Director, Samsung R&D Institute India-Bangalore, said that innovation and education are closely connected. He noted that while a notebook may appear to be a simple learning aid, it can represent opportunity, confidence, and the freedom for children to dream and build a better future.
Over the years, SRI-B has expanded its support for government schools beyond notebook distribution. The institute has contributed tablets, student desks, flipboards, school kits, and RO water filters, while also undertaking infrastructure development projects. These include rebuilding a government school in Kembodi, repainting school buildings, and recently refurbishing the Government Higher Primary School in Bodenahalli.
Through sustained employee volunteering and investments in learning resources and school infrastructure, Samsung R&D Institute India-Bangalore continues to create better educational environments for children in communities around its Bengaluru campus. The notebook initiative stands as a testament to how corporate social responsibility, driven by employee participation, can make a lasting difference in improving access to quality education and empowering students to write their own success stories.
