Rayat Bahra Group announces fourth university, plans AI-era digital institution in Punjab

The announcement followed the Punjab Cabinet’s approval of the State’s Private Digital Open Universities Policy on Tuesday

The Rayat Bahra Group has announced the launch of its fourth university, Cloud University, which it describes as North India’s first AI-era private digital open university.

The announcement followed the Punjab Cabinet’s approval of the State’s Private Digital Open Universities Policy on Tuesday. The proposed institution will be based in Hoshiarpur and will focus on delivering higher education primarily through digital platforms, with artificial intelligence and adaptive learning technologies forming a key part of its academic framework.

Rayat Bahra Group chairman Gurvinder Singh Bahra said the university had been designed “from the ground up” as a private digital open institution to shift higher education from conventional physical classrooms to cloud-based learning.

According to the group, Cloud University will offer undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes as well as specialised certifications. The university is also expected to provide flexible schedules and digitally enabled learning aimed at making higher education accessible to a wider section of students.

The institution will use advanced digital infrastructure and AI-enabled systems to support adaptive learning and personalised academic experiences. The group said the initiative was intended to align higher education with the changing requirements of the AI-driven economy.

Cloud University will be the fourth university operated by the Rayat Bahra Group, which already runs Rayat Bahra University in Mohali, Bahra University in Shimla and Rayat Bahra Professional University in Hoshiarpur.

The university also has programmes associated with statutory professional bodies, including the Bar Council of India, Pharmacy Council of India, Indian Nursing Council and National Council for Teacher Education.

Further details about Cloud University are expected to be made available through its official website as the institution progresses towards its academic launch.
