RGCB Invites Applications for M.Sc Biotechnology Programme 2026–28

The two-year postgraduate programme is structured across four semesters and offers specialisations in two key areas—Disease Biology and Genetic Engineering

The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB), an autonomous institution under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, has invited applications from GAT-B qualified candidates for admission to its M.Sc Biotechnology programme for the academic year 2026–28.

The two-year postgraduate programme is structured across four semesters and offers specialisations in two key areas—Disease Biology and Genetic Engineering. A total of 20 seats are available, with 10 seats allocated to each specialisation.

Applicants must possess a valid Graduate Aptitude Test–Biotechnology (GAT-B) score and a minimum of 60 percent aggregate marks, or an equivalent grade point average, in a Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Life Sciences or Medicine, as per UGC guidelines. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), and Persons with Disability (PWD) categories are eligible for a relaxation of five percent in the minimum qualifying marks.

Students currently in the final year of their undergraduate programme may also apply, provided they can furnish proof of having secured the required marks at the time of admission.

Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of ₹6,000 during the first year and ₹8,000 in the second year. Hostel accommodation will also be provided on the RGCB campus, offering a supportive academic environment for research-oriented learning.

The final selection of candidates will be based on the GAT-B cut-off rank or score determined for each category. The online application process for the RGCB M.Sc programme will commence shortly after the declaration of GAT-B results. Detailed information regarding admission schedules and counselling procedures will be made available on the official RGCB website.

The GAT-B examination application deadline is April 9, 2026. Interested candidates are advised to complete their applications within the stipulated time.
