The Directorate General of Training (DGT) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has partnered with the Aditya Birla Capital Foundation (ABCF) and the Pilani Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Society (PIEDS) — the incubator of BITS Pilani — to launch an innovation and start-up challenge for students of National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) across India.
Titled “Navonmesh Protsahan Spardha: Kaushalta se Udyamita,” the initiative aims to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among more than 10,000 NSTI students currently enrolled under the Craft Instructor Training Scheme (CITS) and the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS). The program will provide mentoring, resources, incubation support, and prizes to students developing ideas in sectors such as IT/ITeS, automotive, apparel, electronics, hardware, power, and manufacturing.
Speaking at the launch, Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, MSDE, said the initiative seeks to help skilled youth transform technical abilities into entrepreneurial ventures. “Through this partnership with the Aditya Birla Capital Foundation, we are enabling NSTI students to channel their technical skills into innovation and enterprise,” she said.
PIEDS will manage the program, which is being supported through the CSR initiative of the Aditya Birla Capital Foundation. The challenge is the first of its kind for the technical and vocational education sector, aiming to foster skill-based entrepreneurship and strengthen India’s innovation ecosystem
